Those swords are heavy! This was an SCA event in the Monterey/Salinas/Prunedale area of California . . . or, I should say, the Barony of Montagne du Roi, in early 2011. Lots of combat, enjoying time with friends, and learning about the Middle Ages.

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a world-wide group dedicated to the re-creation of the middle ages as they *should* have been (i.e., without the plague, the Inquisition, witch burnings, etc.). Members recreate medieval combat, sciences (like brewing, metalwork, leatherwork) and arts (such as calligraphy, dancing, music, and sewing).
