Thousands of people are expected to turn out for the Dalai Lama's visit to Seattle as China condemned a U.S. resolution urging it to begin talks with the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader.

Tibetans and their supporters bowed and sang as the Dalai Lama arrived at Seattle's Grand Hyatt hotel on Thursday. He is in the city for a five-day Seeds of Compassion conference. Organizers say they expect his appearance will draw more than 15,000 people.

  • freetibet49, where did you receive your education about your China?

  • poor westerners brainwashed by the media.

  • I'm Chinese and I think when your around a government like that, you fear and can;t not get out,I think for that reason they lose hope and the only way to keep their family safe is not the stand out or even start thinking the same as the government to stay alive.

  • westernbuddhist society org

  • Tibetan buddhist, not Tibet's?.

  • ???.

  • ???.

  • Hooray for World War 3! And let's make Tony Blair the King of the World while we're at it, with Al Gore the court jester!

I would pose you the question: How do you know something to be true? It's interesting how widespread the support for Tibet is in the west, and yet they know hardly anything about its history. Buddhism brought extreme poverty and forced servitude to the people previously living there. The Chinese government, on the other hand, has developed it well with infrastructure.

  • Why not tell people that you were a slaver before you escaped outside China? Why your peaceful religion became riots in Lhasa Mar 14th 2008? Your believers killed innocent people in the streets, and burnt stores and schools. You are really a great liar in history. Why not say you have a teacher who is a famous Nazi officer?

  • It is a shame to invite a liar, former biggest slaver in Tibet to come Seattle.
