Tai-Shan the national zoo's panda cub had to leave on January 4th at 9:04 am...hope he is a morning person who is not afrid of a 14 hour non-stop plane ride!

All pandas are loaned from China. Also the each cub that was born have to return to China after 2 years. However, each country government can ask for extention and is up to China approval. Our darling Tai was fortunate that China allowed him to stay w/ us 2 more years (while Mei Lan had a one yr extension). Today February 4th, 2010 is the date of both our beloved panda leaving the U.S. soil heading to live in China.:( Don't like to c them go but they will have a lot of panda friends there.

I;ve only seen him once. It was the highlight of my whole trip to Washington D.C....what a great majestic animal. He will truly be missed...:'(
