@Irishdrivingbloopers And of course you're right about the idiots that stroll out across the road from between parked cars without as much as a glance to see if anything's coming and then get offended when you beep the horn - for THEIR own safety, as much as to express annoyance - as if you'd just crashed through their kitchen wall wheile they were strolling around their kitchen. In sum - law badly needs to change.
@Irishdrivingbloopers and as long as that remains the situation, pedestrians will continue in their careless habits - including walking at night on unlit roads without as much as a light coloured jacket to be seen. Then blame it all on drivers. Nothing would help sharpen their attention and road-crossing skills like some of the responsibility shared fairly.
No matter what the situation, the driver is always wrong in the eyes of the law if he/she hits a pedestrian as the driver should be able to stop if he/she is driving at a safe speed and paying due attention.
This does not allow for the idiots that walk out into traffic without looking etc, either unfortunately.
is that true, u would get in trouble? I'm a fellow corkonian and have had plenty of similar incidents like this or even worse u go to turn onto another street and the person just keeps walking with their head down. hello like your crossing a road u tool!
