The musical explores the events leading to the disappearance of three senior girls and their maths teacher on an innocent Sunday afternoon's investigation of a nearby geological curiosity, The Hanging Rocks. This excellent musical was directed by Bob Tomson, music and lyrics, Brian Spence. the book was by Robert Johns. The Cast were West Sussex Youth Theatre. this looks abysmal! how could this be done to such a subtle film.

i am utterly speechless. the music is god-awful, the lyrics are shallow, the set is naff, the choreography extremely amateur (0.56-0.59 is actually laughable) etc. shows a total misunderstanding of the book and film.

i am praying this doesn't go any further...

You can hardly comment having seen just a snippet. It was a magical show under professional direction and writers and captured the essence of the film perfectly.

Offcourse, i agree its always easier if you have been to the show. But as you probably understand very few of the viewers on youtube have seen it live. I must say that you have a strange way of looking at this movie, just beacuse they are young girls it does not have to be something perverse. There is absolutely no nudity of any kind in the movie. Their world is so protected from everything sexual.

UGH! They've killed the spirit totally! You CAN'T put naff, modern POP music to a story like PAHR. It grates! I've just had to kill the volume because it's so uninspiring. Audiences expect to hear at least some attempt to include similar themes or instrumental effects to those in the Movie and surely any singing voices used should be unaccented and ethereal? The success of the the film was greatly due to the haunting, and disturbing quality created by the music so I don't get this at all.

This is terrible. Making a musical of Hanging Rock is like reducing Bergman's movies to a Hollywood action or romance movie with Jeniffer Aniston.

This looks horrible. The musical is a perfect antithesis of what Hanging Rock was going for.

The stupid singing with the stupid smiles and the stupid dancing destroy the very fabric of the film.

I disagree with thetownplanner! I think this looks like it was a fabulous youth production. You all look totally dedicated and very well-rehearsed, with energy and commitment.  I'm 'praying' that, in future, thetownplanner will keep his (or her) unhelpful negativity to himself!

I liked the 'it should have been sarah' song and the 'St valentine' song, but I didn't think too much of the other songs.

I thought it was brilliant. a theatre company i know called NYMT did a production of it, and i loved it. the songs are all beautiful.
