Measuring UN effectiveness in Darfur

Almost six years since its inception, the UN African Mission in Darfur, UNAMID, has grown in both size and experience.

Despite continued violence in the region, the forces have already started to reduce in numbers based on need.

Still, clashes amongs tribal groups over resources have proven a challenge to the UNAMID's core mandate of protecting civilians.

Al Jazeera's Mohammed Vall reports from Darfur, where he has gone on patrol with the forces.

the situation in Darfur is a vicious one.

VIolations of the international human rights and humanitarian law (Genocide COnvention, Geneva Conventions, Torture Convention,etc) have happened.

I think the is UNAMID patrol is the absolute bare minimum needed. Indeed there should have been a better response

The UN is nothing but a new world order armed forces. Notice how they never invade powerful countries, only poor,defenseless ones.
