Wow. Well the day has come when the Daytona left the garage. And it wasn't from me or anybody pushing it. I hit the switch and it left by itself on 12 volts. Then I took it for a spin around the yard, but the resistance from the snow proved to be a little much for just one battery. If I drive it with any higher voltage, I will probably be hooking up the controller though, because I don't think it's good for the contactor to be doing that.

I found a new guy on the block, it sounds like he's been converting his Escort for a while but he just posted his first video last week. He is the youngest converter I know. He's got me beat by two years, he's 17. I encourage you to check Andrew out and subscribe to his videos.

  • Moving at last !! Great work.

  • awg12 cable.... no wonder it was smoking... don't think i have speaker wires that thin even.... ;-p No big danger in jerryrigging stuff on low voltage.... but be very very very very very careful when you start hocking up the actual battery pack.... If your not 100% sure about what your doing and how to do it, ask around in the appropriate forums. Over confidence only gets you zapped dead....

  • Gotta give him credit, for at least trying! and if he learns as he goes so what! you never know, after he get,s it going, he might just figure out that the problem with electric cars is the battery. and go to the barn and invent the soultion to that problem!

  • True hick accent!

  • man, your mom's got one of a kind sense of humor lol she's pretty funny. Hey cant wait to see your next vid dude. Take care

  • DUDE im am so impressed that you have finally managed to get her running, props man. I like your mom? directing this film she has a nice sense of humor.

  • Wow, that's rediculous.

  • I had a helper back in the day, that used a coat hanger to bypass something for a 230v stage truss winch... think he still got groves in hes hand from the coat hanger... Some people just don't think... at all.... EVER!

  • Oh my gosh haha please don't tell me you found that out the hard way. No, I'd go buy some cable before I'd use coat hangers. lol I could totally see somebody doing that though.

  • Just don't be tempted to use coat hangers.... (they usually have a very high internal resistance... in other words they get really hot.... FAST... as in an instant...)

  • lol yea 12 ga. wire was a very bad idea. I never would've started this project without proper education and experience wiring. When I begin wiring, once the voltage is over 36 volts, I'll be wearing insulated gloves etc.
