Someone uploaded this many months ago on YouTube and is now being removed. Well, it's back, but this time as a tribute.

WTAK-AM is now gospel-formatted WDJL-AM.

  • I figured that was the reason that TAK had to go off at night. Were they classic rock when on AM, and are they just as funny on FM as they were on AM?

  • @manyvideoinerests They were a classic rock station back then in the 80's, before that they had an oldies format and a jazz fusion format as well.

  • Impressive! This stattion is in Alabama? I listened to another video about this station, and you'd think such a station wouldn't exist in that part of the counry? Did they moveto FM or is there another station in the area just like it?

  • @manyvideoinerests The WTAK call letters move to the FM dial in 1993 and that station has a classic rock format. As I mentioned, WTAK-AM became WDJL and flipped to gospel in 1996 after a new owner acquired the station. The downside is WDJL only broadcast in the daytime due to the fact they share the same AM frequency as Chicago's ESPN Radio station WMVP.

  • lmao! That was a sign off? A real funny one at that! They still on the air?

  • @manyvideoinerests Yes, they are now WDJL, a gospel station.

  • For all who are interested in listening today WTAK is alive and well at 106.1 FM and somwhere online I am sure. Still crankin out the rock and roll. This was a part of growing up in Huntsville, Alabama. People would drive around at Sunset and tune in to catch this. You couldn't even come close to this today, playing it night after night. Good stuff.

  • Thanks for posting. Brings back memories.
