Let's try this again. I have uploaded this video four times and all four times, copyright muted the audio. Grrrr...So the culprit was 'Shout Bamalama' by the Pinetoppers, a great song. Give it a listen!

Anyway, this look was requested by a few people but since my friend Lulu requested it last, I thought I'd dedicate this one to her. Plus, she's a super talented beauty! See her makeup tutorials here:

In addition, don't forget to check out one of my favorite blogs, The Freelancer's Fashion Blog, for great vintage clothing and hairstyling options. She's such an inspiration!

Thanks for watching!

  • I'm not critizing in the least- swear. I'm not as dexterous with my hands/hair pins and I like the scarf look. I get a really good roll but using a thin but long scarf, then twisting the ends and rolling my hair from the bottom up in it and tying it on top. Then I tuck my front hairs into the sides.. same roundy bun look in the back and cute scarf look in front. Have you ever tryed anything like that? Its easy. :)

  • @LizziBlaize Yes I love that style. Not a true gibson but a darling look, regardess. Lauren Rennells showcases this scarf trick in her book Vintage Hairstyling too!

  • i'm sorry but in order to do a proper gibson bun you have to have at least 22 inches of hair (from the front of your hairline, over your head, and down your length) and the picture you had with the huge roll is not the same style at all

  • @AMagicMind The picture I posted is a huge roll, yes, and it is what is typically referred to as a 'Gibson Roll' (based on the 'Gibson Girl'). I posted it merely as a reference to that original style. However, this solid roll around the head was also worn well into the 40's, when long hair was NOT in fashion, due to the war effort. Even though the hair was shorter, it was still called a 'Gibson'. I pride myself on my research so if you find info that refutes this, please post your source.

  • is that really the artist that sings that songs name? because i cant find it :O

  • @ladiilush92 Gizzelle. Her album is called Devil or Angel. You can get it from Wild Records website or Mybabyjo.com

  • 2:14 Bahahha :)

  • @BrokenScream4God Thank you very much!:)

  • @Glamourgirl604 take the stocking, (2 of them) flold the one stocking into the other stocking like folding socks, and mold into a sausage shape.

  • @BrokenScream4God Hello, could you tell me, how to make rolled up stockings? Thank you:)

  • ironically enough, ive been attempting styles like this repeatedly by just twisting the hair around the base of the neck, and while the look is nice, the twist isnt even and it falls out due to my short length and end layers and angling. i do it more to play. i was looking at a lot of your early videos and had to watch. maybe il attempt to put in more effort; sometimes i just want my hair off my neck, but feel top heavy in a high bun or i dream of jeannie ponytail which causes my scalp to hurt!

  • Nice!

  • I really adore this style. i love it. I used a rolled up stocking and it works fine.
