Petzl Tikka XP2 review starts at 0:38
Black Diamond Spot review starts at 2:30
Side by Side Light Output Comparison at 6:27
We have two amazing headlamps here. The Petzl name is known for high quality and standards, but the Black Diamond seems to be just as well built and has more features in the end (plus it's a bit cheaper). One big flaw with the Black Diamond Spot is its red light. It is REALLY dim and is basicaly only good for viewing what you are doing with your hands.
Both are great lights and we hope this review will help you make a more educated buying decision.
I own both and the petzl Is better but u can save a ton of money by getting the energizer triple beam headlamp because it's better in every way! Trust me I own ALL of those headlamps

I've been meaning to buy lithium too because they will make the beam even brighter and the lamp lighter like you said. O yeah the storm will work perfect for you and may save your life spotting a shark or something haha. I would recommend rinsing the saltwater off when done but other then that you'll be set for a long time. These lamps are of highest technology just released in feb 2011. Good luck! Enjoy!

Right on! Thanks you have been such a great help. Im very excited bc i just ordered the BD Storm and also some lithium batteries to make it even less heavier. Pretty cool how you can stuff 4 AAA in that little light. I will be putting it to alot of use and im glad im finally investing in a headlamp that will probably never let me down. Sometimes i get soaked by the saltwater waves, i didnt want to take a chance ruining the BD Spot.

In front of you. Overall I would rate the storm lamp at a 10/10 and i am an avid outdoorsmen and have used these lamps for years. I wouldn't be caught camping or hunting without it. Also the waterproof feature is very nice and I guarantee it'll go deeper then 3 meters and be fine. I recommend you spend the extra bucks and buy the storm over the spot. Hope this helps. Any more questions let me know.

The BD storm is not bulky at all. The frame of it is small and compact. The only concern u may have is it is on the heavier end for a headlamp. Granted it is still really light but In comparison to the petzl I had previous it's heavier. But when on your head you dont really notice the weight and the strap is great for adjusting. Overall the performance of the lamp is top of the line. The high beam is extremely bright and the lower two small led are perfect for working on something right in fron

i need a headlamp for night fishing and i was stuck between getting the BD Storm or Spot. right now i own an Energizer 1 watt headlamp but it sucks and is WAY too bulky! i like how the Storm is 100 lumens and waterproof since ill be near the ocean but im wondering if you find it bulky or heavy at all. the price is awesome too.
please if you could reply!
thanks in advance :]

I just bought the black diamond storm. Basically exact same light at the spot just with 100 lumens and waterproof to submersion of 3 feet. I think the high beam is quite a bit stronger then the spots as well. The storm runs for $50. I love it.
