ok thanks for the input. for awhile i had been doing it wrong and every now and then i would remember that i was supposed to go forward. i rechecked that website (for the first time in awhile ^.^;;) and tried it again outside. i got it about the 2nd and 3 times without touching the ground but my legs were still a little bent so this calls for more practice. i think i'll register on the forums later today after i sleep. so i thikn i can start doing these. i just need to do them right!
If you can already "almost" land it on ground, keep trying on ground. I feel a tramp would give false security for this kind of trick. NEways, drilling gymnast cartwheels on a straight line help to get used to the hip rotation for a gymnast aerial. Make sure you're using your arms for lift, and I find it helps quite a bit from a short jog.
and on that aerial i still have to occasionally plant one hand on the ground in the middle of the jump to keep myself aloft. although at a dance off at a party a managed to barely land it and everyone was amazed. so tricking is a pretty cool skill. XD would practicing on a trampoline help?
gymnist. i found this great site called trickstutorials(.)com giving you step-by-step instructions on different kicks and flips. its a pretty cool site and can be kinda humorous. ^.^
You were right. ^-^ You workin' on a gymnast aerial or a martial arts aerial? If you aren't sure of the difference, a gymnast aerial has you moving forward, and when you're done, you're looking back towards where you started. A martial arts aerial moves sideways, like an inverted b-kick.
Good luck to you. ( :
