Thanks to all that donated and worked toward our 2009 Cold War Monument. The monument dedication took place 25 June 2009 at our former McPheeters Kaserne. This monument idea was something I spearheaded in June 2005 after visiting the Kaserne with my family. After 4 years of hard work the dedication was a dream come true. My sincere thanks to you all. A special thanks to Thomas Schossow of Bad Hersfeld, Frau Renate Stieber of Fulda, Germany, 14th retired Master Sergeant John Hathcock SF, Col. Hans Duerr, LTC Bill Wray, W3 Everett Tracy and 11th LT Steve Lungstrum.
I served with the 3rd Squadron 14th ACR HQ Commo Unit from June 1966-1968

Eine sehr gute Idee, 20-Jahre nach Maueröffnung diesen Gedenkstein zu setzen. Die Bürger von Bad Hersfeld hatten stets ein gutes Verhältniszu den Amerikanern. Der kalte Krieg ist lange aus. Die Mauer ist eingerissen. Nie wieder Krieg! Diese Parole sollten sich die US-Amerikaner besonders einprägen....
