I just watched the entire video and before turning the polisher on the pad was ALWAYS in contact with the paint. But you are right, when using a DA Polisher, (not a rotary buffer), you always place the pad against the surface of the paint BEFORE turning the polisher on which is covered on page 102 in my how-to book The Art of Detailing. At the end of the video we turn the polisher on but that's just for sound effects because guys like power tools. -Mike

  • He turned the machine on before putting the pad on the surface...A definite penalty in the Mike Phillips book?

    Hi 1412101,

I've only used to to remove defects by machine to this date. I do most all my defect removal by machine unless there's a section or panel of paint that is too difficult to machine clean and polish and then I'll tackle that by hand. To date I have not had a chance to work with this product by hand so I cannot comment to it's performance. Should you use this product by hand I know the manufacture would like to hear your feedback.

  • Hey Mike, May I ask how HPS works by hand? I try to stick to Megs products but this really interests me with it`s versatility.

Can you use almost zero to very light pressure with a foam or microfiber applicator pad to remove defects on from soft Chevrolet paint, or do you still need to use a good bit of pressure and 2 or more applications in each small section? Thanks!

    Hi dlt21,

I did my normal "Section Pass", there's a video here on our YouTube channel that shows what a section pass is or you can find it on our forum at AutogeekOnline . net

Find ANY post by me and in my Signature Line you'll find a link to my articles and videos.
