Monk Seal meets Surfer Dude

Monk seal meets and falls in love with a surfer on Oct 24, 2007 After a four hour rest the female Monk Seal heads into the water and immediately swims to the surfer. Follows him till he leaves the water. Is that love or what?

I had the good fortune of meeting one out in the line up too. O'ahu, west side, back in '86. The one I saw, I was literally face to face with for a few seconds. I ducked under a wave and I saw it disappear into the foam. It reemerged behind me and we just kinda looked at each other for a little bit. Then it went on its way. I'll never forget the experience.

It saddens me to see them on the endangered species list.

Not to worry, Surger Girl is doing her part to get off the list. She was at Makena State Park July 9 through the 16 with new boy friend. I've learned from reliable sources that she had a pup in late June which is still hanging out on the beach she was born. Aloha Dr. L
