Mike Mulhern's NASCAR: Ban Testing!?

NASCAR blindsided teams Friday at Homestead with a major testing ban for 2009: which in effect gives team owners political cover to fire a lot of crewmen. Black Monday looms, and as many as 1,000 stock car crewmen could get the axe.

looks like a knee-jerk PR reaction to me, to help detroit in this week's negotiations in washington. and, yes, i think the car of tomorrow still needs a lot of work....as do crew chiefs. now it's just a matter of where are these guys going to test. and how much more will this rule cost.

So does this mean another season of fallow the leader racing where they can't get the cars to run side be side? And what happens with the new Nationwide car do the push back the arrival of it.
