While I personally wouldn't feel comfortable breastfeeding for so long, I don't see why we've any say in what a mother does. She's not harming him, far from it. There's a lot of really good things in breast milk that make it a nutritional gold mine and if she wants to maintain whatever bond with her child that's nurtured by breast feeding, so be it. There's nothing showing that a child who is breastfed that long develops any psychological problems so I say whatever works for their family.

@angerdux8 Well dear, i respected my MOTHER quite a bit at the time. and my husband was defending your right to disrespect me now in the US army while fighting in the middle east, that is if you are american. and the bottles ruined my kid's desire at six months to nurse. I am NOT endorsing what you all call EXTREME BFing. to answer your questions, NO my 5 yr olds were not in diapers, and I don't feel that my posts were childish in the least, they may have been somewhat tainted with anger and disdain, but look around, why wouldn't they be? yeah, i have a 52 yr old husband and 6 properties in America and my kids father is completely present. why would he even be a part of my posting, he is not BFing.
