As you can tell on the video, James suffered a pretty clean tear to the meniscus. Fortunately, no other damage was present, so once I took care of the injury, James was on his way to recovery.
The rate of recovery for this type of surgery is pretty typical. After surgery, patients come in after a 10-day period to have their stitches removed. By this time, they're 80 percent better and can get around with ease. Patients may still have some mild swelling, though, but it's minor. Then after four to six weeks, recovery is usually complete and they can return to whatever physical activities they wish.
