This short film was submitted to MIST T.O. '08. It won 1st place alhamduliallah. There were many strict guidelines and rules to follow interms of the production as a whole- but alhamduliallah;we did it! go WOSS!
Here's a short explanation/synopsis:
So what is the colour of Islam? Green? Red? Blue? We disagree... so we decided to make this movie. This short film was made with the intention of portraying what we as directors find the most beautiful aspect of this religion- Diversity.
The main character in this movie is Kendra. She represents a stranger who is pondering why so many different people join in such a simple thing. While spending time at the airport, due to the delay of her flight, she meets many people. First she meets Mohammad (A.E), a child coming to Canada after struggling through his life. Kendra then befriends a lady from Singapore (R.M); a country she didn't even know existed and had a cup of coffee with two friendly ladies (M.M& M.A) of whom she knew nothing about. These are the events that opened her eyes up to something that we as Muslims might take for granted at times. By the end of this short film, Kendra has concluded that all of these people she has met are different and each one of them is unique in their own way. The surprise though is that all of these different people are united at the end through a Salat-one of the 5 pillars of Islam. The movie being from the point of view of a non-Muslim is very important. As is pretty evident, Muslims aren't always united. In fact, it is greatly disappointing to say that Muslims have had many issues separating them recently. The simplest of all issues could vary from country boundaries or determining Eid day. Yet, Islam is still the only religion that unites so many different people, no matter how varied they are. In fact, this is the reason why Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world; it simply works for everybody. It is the non-Muslims who realize this, and that is why over 19,000 people embrace Islam each year.
