Actually, most husbands want their wives to get paying jobs and not do volunteer work, especially in this economy. So Rob Lowe's character was just acting like most men today.

It's a good film with the usual theme: ungrateful person who has everything vs. those more focused and more or less content. The script is weak but ok. The wife fights back a bit but needs to confront him that he's pushing/ tyrannising everyone to fulfil his agenda of the new house. No one else wants it. Humbug!

I don't think the kids in this are selfish nathen did everything he could to make his mom happy before she passed on and Lilly I can understand were she's coming from her dad is never around due to work and all she has left is her mom so I would be upset to is she started work like the dad just sayin<3
