Tom's Hardware's worldwide editor-in-chief Chris Angelini runs through Just Cause 2 to demonstrate the Radeon HD 6990's acoustics. Pay particular attention to the transitions at 2:30 (2880 RPM, 58 dB[A]) and 4:15 (3600 RPM [62 dB[A]).

  • The main problem with watching this video is how do you calibrate the volume of your speakers to the actual decibel level of the scene in the video? Just setting everything to max amplification doesn't sound like an accurate way to get a recreation.

  • @orbenn You're not hearing any sound from the scene itself. If you compare this video to the GTX 590 video we made and included in our review, the comparison is easier to make!

    Best,

    Chris

  • Haha, I was running it in the background, so it sounded like my computer was speeding for no apparent reason xD

  • Sound like vacuum cleaner.

  • eh i have the 480 so the 6990 shouldnt be that big of a difference lol

  • Holy crap, that is like a vacuum cleaner!!!

  • Lol I can't even hear anything in the video itself since my fan noise is so loud and yes it's a 6990

  • Where's the awesomelame technomusic?

  • @chrisangelini

My friend's either going to get a 6990 or two 6950s, I better tell him quick to get two 6950s instead.

Apparently there is less micro stutter on a 6990 though?

  • @mgallegos94 You also don't need a card near this powerful for that game. Not even close, a good 1gb 256 DDR5 card will smash BF3
