This is my favourite song from a great Canadian group, the Bells. It was written by another great Canadian singer, Marty Butler, who I met in 1983.

@24therough I'm hearing 4 beats of C in the verse an 4 beats of a Gm7 or Bb with a C bass. F G C in chorus and then goes to Db and everything goes up one.

Wow! Thanks so much for this. I had totally forgotten about this wonderful song. Bringing up emotion as it takes me back to a time of being out on the road hitching around North America so filled with hope that we were going to change the whole world into a peaceful one. Never imagined back then that it would take soooooooooooo long.

I still remember the summer day when this was playing on the car radio as I held a melting popsicle in one hand & hung the other out the window so it could fly along beside me like an aerofoil.
It was a good day.
