I think they had a different artist doing Callie Briggs in the series, the rest of the characters look very American Comic Book-ish while she looks very anime, particularly in the eyes and mouth.

@CheesecakeD I agree with you, the second season was always my favorite. At that time, I didn't know anything about anime, but I did notice that it somehow looked different. Looking back, I wish they would have drawn the entire series in anime style.
