I cant remember who said that Symphony no 9 is the only thing mankind has ever done that justifies our existence. I think they where right.

I could be very wrong but I heard yesterday in the university that Thomas Mann in his novel Dr. Faustus wrote that Beethovens 9th symphony were one of the few things that enlightened mankind as deserving to exist.
