In early June 1916 the Royal Navy Submarine HMS E18 was lost with all hands in the Baltic. 33 men lost their lives. The submarine was part of one of the most successful submarine operations in history ordered by First Sea Lord Sir Winston Churchill.

In October 2009 the wreck of the submarine was discovered by a team led by historian-explorer Carl Douglas, including among others Darren Brown and Jonas Dahm. The search was led by Karin Gunnesson, Joakim Holmlund (PhD) and Ola Oskarsson of Swedish survey company MMT.

  • Mis seal ikka mainida, kallis riik meil ju selliseid operatsioone ei toeta, aga kui keegi pakub et teeks selle laevaga midagi siis tahab riik kohe endale...

  • I'm a direct descendant of George Gaby, the man who replaced Darren Brown's great-grandfather when he became ill with appendicitis and was kept off the sub for her final voyage. Does anyone know how I can see the full programme, Churchill's Lost Submarine, or get in contact with Darren?

  • The Baltic Sea was propably the heaviest sea-mined area in the world, and that in both world wars.

NATO minesweepers train sweeping there and find and destroy an average of 15 to 20 old mines every year.

Including still functioning ww1 mines like the one that sunk E18 almost a century ago.

Just a few years ago a u.s navy ship almost hit a german ww1 anchor mine there during a NATO exercise at Crimea. Luckily it was spotted in time.

  • my great great grandfather was on this ship when it sank...

  • low salt content in the water there.

  • whats the name of the song in the background?

  • Unbelivable good condition

  • MMT tegeles ja tegeleb Nordsterami trassi uuringuga......................
