This is me getting WAY off the tourist path in Urubamba. I walked into an old lady's sad dirt floor shack and drank chicha. Chicha is a strange lumpy fermented corn drink. People make big vats of it and post a flag outside their house to let you know they have it for sell. They serve it in GIANT cups and keep refilling and refilling. I speak limited Spanish so it was a difficult to hang out. Somehow we all bonded over unlimited refills, smiles, giggles, and soccer goals. When I left they poured the backwash from my cup back into the big vat. I miraculously didn't get sick after this. Oh yeah, the house/shack only had three walls. The back wall was open air into the tiny backyard that housed several goats. The only room in the place was reserved for raising guinea pigs. Yep, people eat guinea pigs in Peru.
