IM FROM BATON ROUGE AND LOVES SU TO DEATH BUT LETS BE HONEST.....THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE OVER JSU IS ARRANGEMENT THATS IT...THATS WHERE THEY WIN BECAUSE THEIR VERSION OF THINGS IS MORE CROWED CATERED....BUT TOE TO TOE J STATE IS KILLING THEM WITH A MORE COMPLEX SONG SELECTION....ARTICULATED NOTES AND ARE PLAYING ON A COLLEGE LEVEL....SU IS JUST A GREAT HIGH SCHOOL WHO PLAYS LOUD AND EASY SONGS,,,

Ok how bout the camera dude get directly in front of Southern's band like he is with Jackson.I promise you wouldnt be able to hear J-Stank as clear as you hear Southern from acroos the field.

@eastbeast9 -and southerns woodwinds has increased. So my point taken, Seems as su has tried to add more sound variation to their arrangements ONLY in recent yrs (as i said)....like who...Jsu! Yes the Boom has gained more sound power but su has attempted to gain more detail to their music which is Not what they are known to do

@multiflyguy09 Ohio State doesn't have not 1 woodwind in their marching band, go hate on 1 of their clips with that foolishness.
brass is an SU identity. if ya wanna be real JSU woodwind section gets a tad bit smaller every year.

why people sit on here and dont know what there talking about.... think for a minute. now jsu is nice but they dont have the good direction like southern have. all southern songs are designed for one purpose not to sound loud but for peoplle to enjoy. dats why there the human jukebox. listn to jsu across the field... not to clear but loud dont mix. listen to the u from across. you hear everything and they sound smooth.

Su only talk arrangements here in the last 2 or 3 yrs....Why?? Because they started losing their only defense (the LOUDER is BETTER theory lol) to other schools. So i agree partially, that su has RECENTLY begun to play with more skill to match jsu's in terms of dynamics. Because from about 2006 down through late 80's, Su was merely a bunch of brass overblowin half and whole notes on EVERY song...Funny how soon we forget lol
