this is very understandable even for a 14 year old like me

somany smart ppl here makes me feel good, everyone know the sumerians?? u shouylddd

I'm curious, why don't you just use another organic solvent, such as acetic acid? Wouldn't that be cheaper and safer?

@bry1012777 What country do you recommend :) ?

i worked with dcm not a good idea here me thinks :). stuff is lethal

@bry1012777 I understand that the more complicated the chain, the more tricky the process. BUT extracting Mescaline and DMT are not hard to do. Any kid with a 12th grade understanding of chemistry can do it, so let's be honest here. We're not synthing 2,5,dimethoxy-4-chlorophenylis
opropylamine (one of my favorites, BTW) from scratch. -
And if you ever need to make dichloromethane (DCM- chloroform) as a solvent (as it works VERY well especially for phenethylamines). You get it by mixing bleach (sodium/potassium/calcium hypochlorite) and acetone (propanone) in pyrex within a crushed ice bath. If the reaction goes south on you, flip the bowl into the ice water and you can still salvage any produced because the polar and nonpolar solvents will not mix. That's also how you wash the DCM in the end anyway.

you are right extracting it is very easy, but it is the purification that is more important then the extraction. To me it is not worth the risk though, when you can go to countries where you can take it legal. have a great night

Correction: IT is not that the DMT will not dissolve directly into the water because they are in freebase form in nature (often oils). You have to extract the freebase and then convert it into a salt so you can mix your polar (water) and nonpolar solvents (whatever) to crash out the alkaloids.

@bamboo4tameshigiri actually DMT will not dissolve into water, or it is like 6.5% or around there. The molecule needs to be protonated by and acid to be 100% soluble. It needs the extra H atom on the Nitrogen atom to form N+. which then yes at that point you have created the ammonia ion which is a salt.

@bamboo4tameshigiri You are correct in that is a great general rule that polar like polar, and non polar likes non polar however that does not always hold true to the exact form. Either does the rule that if it is less than a 5 carbon chain per hydrogen bond it will be soluble in water. They are general rules and good ones to go by using a book, in the actual lab it gets a lot more tricky lol

I use to feel the same way, until I traveled far enough down the rabbits hole, where now I can actually use the knowledge to produce a tangible act from the the thought, and not just the conceptual process over and over again.

Thank you very much. It is so hard to find quality sources for information. I have never been drawn and compelled to anything like I am to all this knowledge. I wish I started 20 years ago. I cannot take in information fast enough. It is very hard to relate to other people now. Don't even feel like the same species anymore. I just keep imagining if all this info was mainstream. What an amazing place we would live in. What do you think is going on with the Earth and the alignments and such?

@TheUnclehammy That I will not answer for everyone, I will send you a message this weekend if I can, with some quotes from some very old alchemy books.
