An Australian professor, Ian Plimer, has written a book arguing global warming does not threaten the world because it does not exist.

Transcript
TONY JONES: A new book called Heaven and Earth argues that the United Nations, most national governments and thousands of scientists have been duped into believing the world faces catastrophic climate change unless carbon emissions are drastically reduced.

None of that is necessary according to Ian Plimer, a two-time Eureka prize winner who is Emeritus professor of earth science at Melbourne University and professor of mining geology at the University of Adelaide.

He says human emissions of carbon dioxide do not create global warming; he claims there is no global warming at all because temperatures are actually dropping and that geology shows that climate change is part of the earth's natural cycle. (Click url for more.)

  • lol. last guy says records show climate got warmer in the past 150yrs, I believe he forgot to tell us about how cold it was in the 70s and last yr. was there ice or winter during the dinosaur age? Just wondering because that is a lot of vegetation needed to feed them, can't grow plants in ice or snow.

  • @nonsulen thanks - i'll send you a vid regarding dinos.

  • AHHHHH THIS GUY IS A NOB!

  • @maggietopiah well umm, if you insist........:))

  • This is ridiculous. something as important as this and it only has 54 views, yet some silly person falling over will have thousands, brainwashed mankind will be it's own downfall.

  • @Simplemindedgenius appreciate your input. Apologies for the delay in replying.

  • @OtagoMark Did you read my source regarding glacial melt?

  • @Bridgmanify A bad analogy...The evidence that smoking increases the risk of lung cancer is extremely strong. the evidence that co2 has caused the warming the earth has experienced is not. there are other credable theories...with smoking there is no other strong theory to explain the cases of lung cancer shown by statistics to have caused lung cancer...likr asbestos for example...with global warming there is more than one plausable theory as to the main cause...

  • @OtagoMark "Glacial melt isn't accelerating" . I understood that it is. Did you read my source?

If it is accelerating, you are right to say that it still doesn't prove man is responsible. I don't think any climate scientist says it is proof, only that it is evidence for it. An analogy is smoking and lung cancer. No-one has proved the link between smoking and lung cancer but the evidence consistently suggests it is probably true. Agreed?

  • @Bridgmanify Very good, Glacial melt isnt accelerating and even If I accept that it is , it doesnn't prove man is responsible for the warming, the world was warming before the industrial revolution.

  • @OtagoMark "if man had cuased extra warming over and above te pre industrial trend you'd have expected glaciers to accelerate their melt and average sea ice to be decreasing rapidly...don't take my word for it... do some tudy theresgood sourcesoutthere"

Ok, I didn't take your word for it, I did some tudy. Your expectation that glacial melt should be accelerating is spot on - and that is exactly what is happening. Reference: google 'the world glacier monitoring service'

  • @Bridgmanify Well can't say for certain what the average global temperature was during the MWP I can only get a rough idea by all the scientific papers published us temperature proxys from around the globe and many different types of temperature proxies....if man had cuased extra warming over and above te pre industrial trend you'd have expected glaciers to accelerate their melt and average sea ice to be decreasing rapidly...don't take my word for it... do some tudy theresgood sourcesoutthere

  • @OtagoMark I can't prove AGW any more than I can prove the theory of gravity. So what?

If I had made a claim, I would have given you a reference. You made a claim about the temp of the MWP. I just wanted to know if you had a good reason for your belief.
