Thanks for posting this video and getting the word out about the piece. I've just posted the slightly revised version of Cloud Forest over on my channel. I recorded it during my residency at FSU a few weeks ago.
Thanks again for playing EVERY version of Cloud Forest. I'm not even sure I've done that.
I've been giving the Blake Tyson mallets a few test runs the past week or so. I like the articulation with a full stroke, but i find when i ease up a little, the tone rounds out and sounds very nice. I rehearsed a few sections with my vibe player today, actually, because he was having trouble playing the part by himself. I am looking forward to performing this piece.
cool man...i too will be performing this in November for my junior recital...i feel sorry for the vibe player...i think thats the hardest part for the quartet which makes the marimba solo all the more envigorating to play....P.S. i am using the Blake Tyson series of mallets BT 3 4 and 5's for this on a Yamaha 5 octave and i think they are the best mallets ever and will NEVER buy any other mallets but those ! SERIOUSLY! Super light, fast and extremely articulate in every range!Good Luck!
I will be performing this piece in November for my senior percussion recital, and coincidentally, I will play it on a MarimbaOne as well. If you don't mind sharing, what mallets did you use for this performance?
Good luck with your performance of Cloud Forest tomorrow man...hope it goes well!!!

By the way, there is an mp3 of this piece available on my website. It's a recording I made in January with the grad percussion quartet at OU.
