"NO REFUSAL" is the statement from police departments across the country. This is a federally funded program to make it standard operating procedure to force people to give blood if they refuse the breathalyzer test. If you don't cooperate with the blood taking you can be tasered.

This seems to stem from a 2002 police meeting called the, "Criminal Justice Summit on Impaired Driving".

In this they recommend forcefully taking blood, making refusal of breathalyzer a crime, and elimination of a jury trial option.

This kind of BS should not exist in a so-called "Free Society".

Not all laws are holy. You must have an injury to have a crime. You have to prove damage. This is an equity case. But you probably can't comprehend that. Wasn't it illegal to harbor a runaway slave? And those people had the nerve to complain about it! Victimless crimes are not real crimes at all. They are political crimes. @Texans4AcctGovt I did. That's a great program for Austin, but I'm guessing it isn't sufficiently staffed or funded everywhere there are drunk drivers.

I don't think cops should be taking blood but I can't see ONE legitimate reason to refuse a breath test. I don't drink and I'm not sympathetic to drunk drivers. I've seen TOO MANY PEOPLE THEY'VE MURDERED. Perhaps if you spent more time endorsing compulsory breath tests for suspects, I'd be more sympathetic. Death by Drunk is too serious.

Frankly, it sounds like utter nonsense. If we knew how to keep drunks from getting behind the wheel, we would have already done so. No one wants the drunks killing people. Your "better solutions," if you actually have them, which I obviously believe you don't or you would have used your time promoting them, seem to be nothing but empty rhetoric.

Dont get mad just write your council members and tell them this program is simply not acceptable to you. That you will be taking their action on this matter into account when it comes time to decide who to support in the future for their council seat. These people are public servants they just need to be reminded of this fact occassionally.
