  • I'd heard this tune years ago being played, in, I think, Lincoln Cathedral but until now didn't know what it was. I just came across it while browsing for some stuff by Whitlock on Youtube - esp I was looking for excerpts from his C-minor sonata (what a fine work!).

This folk tune is often played as a prologue/scene-setter to put the congregation in the right frame of mind prior to the introit hymn.

    Very good playing. Enjoyed it.

  • glad you enjoyed it! thanks

  • The sound quality was poor, but the piece came through. I have played this piece for many years and always loved it.

You play it very well, on a modest instrument.
