Yes it was promised in the 2005 manifesto. However that was on the grounds that the treaty was a constitution. The clauses that have been rectified and taken out are the clauses that made it a constitution. Subsequently the treaty is no longer a constitution and therefore Labour has not contradicted itself. Having a referendum would be completely useless as ill/media informed members of public would vote on something they do not understand, and that has been distorted beyond truth.

What I want to know is why you not post my very moderate and polite mentioning of a BBC article (David Miliband's thoughts on Europe) and you didn't publish it. Free speech?
