Cats spend lot of their time sleeping or napping. While they sleep, they also have a REM (rapid eye movement) phase when dreaming occures. That's the same like we, people do. While a human being spends an average 8 hours per day with sleeping, 31% of it in REM phase (2,5 hours), a cat's sleep time is 13,2 hours including 32% REM phase (4,2 hours). The amount of REM phase sleep (so dreaming) is linked to the ability to learn and reproduce memories.
