  • please upload another video of this piano? there are only like 4 tack piano videos on the whole of youtube, its disgraceful..

  • @Starfleet0 Inspiring. I'll try to do something this January.

  • Next step: tuning? No, the out-of-tuneness is one of the best parts!

  • @ArtD42 I've since had it tuned but it really wasn't out that bad. A friend of mine came over and recorded each key so we can have its own midi sample.

  • I've just converted mine..its great for playing russ conway or winifred atwell

  • @cellophaneyellow use metal not plastic :)

  • @tonytrov Thanks! super helpful—any suggestions for particular preferred tacks? seems pretty straight forward but there are a few sorts out there.

  • @cellophaneyellow i had a hard time too. i used my thumb on the tacks and index and middle fingers on the hammer to push. sort of like the fingering on injecting a needle. if you get what i mean.

be careful though, i broke a hammer and it was a pain to repair it.

  • hey,

i'm trying to convert a janky old upright into a tack piano also, but can't get the tacks to sink into the hammers. any tips?
