  • Another nice video John. Thanks for the up close and personal look at this shelter system. And I agree about leaving in the "rough" parts.

  • @1377stick They stick. Thanks for taking the time to sit through the videos, I know they are long ones. If you are ever looking for a new tarp, you really should get ahold of Joe and get this one!

  • Can it be pitched directly to the ground for horrible, horrible, wind-blown rain or would that make it too low for head room? I think the hexamid has a person covered for their body when worried about rain, I wonder how much extra coverage there is to protect your gear?

  • @bster13 I use the tarp by itself (one of the lightest at 4oz) when I am out using my bivy and if it starts raining really hard, I will lower the pole and take it all the way down to the ground. Lots of room for gear!!

  • Great real life vid.

  • Love the videos John. It seems like every piece of gear im interested in youve got a review and video on it. Keep up the good work my friend!

  • @RedwoodOutdoors Well some day you'll have to fly to the east coast, bring your hexamid and check out my cub den and we can compare notes. :p

  • A-frame tarp out of same material might be better in high wind due to ability to pitch incredibly low (at sacrifice of headroom of course) IMO and experience. If I didn't have sewn in bug netting I would of gone with a CF tarp for non-bug season on initial thought. But then again I'm more comfy pitching tarps than hexamid/cub den type shelter. Def learning curve.
