I went to this spot a few weeks ago. The area is so different now that it is hard to get even a feeling that this famous scene was filmed here. I also walked to her 444 East 57th street apartment (end of East 57th street by the East River) and a doorman took my picture in front of it. I had fun retracing Marilyn's steps around NY. James Haspiel's book is really good for finding locations.

@tigersclaw99 You should def check out the apartment where the exterior shots of The Seven Year Itch were filmed! That was my favorite! Feel free to send me a private message and I can send you more locations and addresses :)

@rhylmark Once you visit the "Marilyn" locations in NY, you'll really feel why Marilyn loved it there and considered herself a New Yorker. There are NO plaques at any Marilyn locations in NY. I feel Marilyn would have wanted it that way, because New York treated her like anyone else. New York didn't want anything from her or obsess over her "Marilyn Monroe" persona. Unlike Hollywood, who built her up, took her down, and didn't care.

@rhylmark It's not that NY doesn't care to recognize Marilyn, but she was one of them, a New Yorker. And I think she enjoyed that. The Marilyn locations in NY seem a lot more on the "personal" side of Marilyn without the recognition. That she was a person, like us, and not just a superstar.
