lol......im a longshoreman from Long beach...but im a long way from riding boards down the hill...I use to ride my bike down skyline drive when I was a kid..now at the age of 29...I wouldn't dare to...
He's good from what I hear. He's lived in Hawaii for several years now, surfing a lot and making surfboards now, and always thinking of new and better designs, as usual. I think he is like 60+ years old now, but i guess your not old, unless you feel old (:
@BuzzDyou My uncle (David Dillberg) won this contest in 77' along with Lester. I give those seventies dudes credit, they were the pioneers of the sport. He later went on to design those skateboard shells they had for high speeds, I think his personal best was like 57 mph or something crazy. Cool times.
Signal Hill can be brutal.. I clocked 45 mph, verified by the chick in the Camaro following me. After 10 clean runs, I changed the grommets, like an idiot I didn't use a hard enough compound.. Speed Wobbled, slid past two houses on my elbows, no safety gear (commando).. end of downhill career! Aargh
this is the real deal. they were inventing shit on the spot with crappy gear unlike the stuff we have today. if you don't respect this do us all a favor and stop skateboarding and take up roller blading instead.
Very cool heard about this vid from one of the competitors Tom Kishen on his handsliders. We were tearing up Archibald Ave in Cucamonga then. THANKS!
