Doug Unplugged

I have been involved with a great bunch of producers from LA to work on a project to promote family medicine. It has gone through some names (Medicine Man, Doc Holiday and Tough Medicine) and different versions but the goal has always been the same - to use my work with the Placebo Journal to somehow showcase what primary care is all about. Here is a small highlight that we decided to share. Enjoy and send it on to your connections in Hollywood. I mean, who wouldn't want me?

Let me explain the name Doc Holiday. The idea was/is to give those solo docs in the field a few weeks vacation to give them a break or holiday. I would come in and see their patients (for free) and the show would highlight the doc, his or her town, and the struggles of primary care. Hence, the RV at the end of the video and the name play - Doc Holiday.

Doc Holiday is an interesting concept but how about Dr. Doug's Clinic Nightmares

whereby you travel to clinics that are struggling financially and get them back on their feet similar to Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen NIghtmares. In primary care, who worries about a vacation when you're trying to survive. I think the concept would have more mass appeal.

Well done. Very entertaining with good delivery of message. Would probably change title to Dr. Doug's World. Dr. Doug has a certain ring to it. I would stay away from Doctor Holiday since it reminds one of a homicidal dentist from the Old West.

hey Doug - you can come film my little practice any time. I think a show about primary care would be better than The Doctors any day. Run it on Tru TV between Bait Car and Hard Core Pawn - or make it a regular spot on All Worked Up - people will be sure to see it. LOL. Sorry - some days I think I woke up in a Springer episode, ya know. But, like you, I keep trudging toward the next room. Usually, it all comes out in the wash. Unfortunately, i find more coin in the wash. LOL. Looks great!
