I honestly believe Shawn *has* been reading and also comprehending the contents of books dealing with history. I could suggest you read objective accounts of the History of the Church going back to the Apostle Paul and covering everything until the reformation for the sake of personal enlightenment-but I fear I might be accused of slander in doing so -.

Many religious cult leaders have introduced polygamy, though usually only for themselves. Polygamy was a way for Smith to win the alliance of other Mormon leaders in this matter. Just look at David Koresh & the harem he was creating for himself. One that alsy included many teenage girls, like Smith's. Mohammed is supposed to have also practiced polygamy, much beyond the 4 wives he allowed others & he also included a 6yr. old girl as a "wife."

#1 you just slandered the RLDS church, who NEVER practiced polygamy.

#2 Joseph Smith used the "doctrine" of celestial marriage to cover up his insatiable sexual appetite. The only way to get some girls to sleep with him is to say God wants them to be married, and the only way to assuage these girls' families is to say "God said we should be polygamous."

#3 I hope you read an ACTUAL history book someday. You have been lied to.

does anyone know why polygamy was done?!!! its because in times of old that men went and fought for their family and the men who didnt had to stay and care for those wives that didnt have a man in the home and as soon as war and things were died down the church abolished polygamy. the only practices of polygamy are from the flds and the rlds (NOT PART OF THE TRUE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS)
