NEW YORK, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Hip-hop culture and controversy have always made for familiar bedfellows. Yet, in the wake of the Imus controversy and in a year when the genre's sales have tumbled, hip-hop finds itself under an exceptional amount of scrutiny and pressure -- and the stakes have never been higher. BET NEWS takes a powerful and compelling look at the state of hip-hop today in a three-part series titled HIP HOP vs. AMERICA. Hosted by BET's own Toure and Jeff Johnson, this special showcases a candid, heated forum that will allow audiences to hear the opinions of prominent leaders in the hip-hop industry, the political realm, academia and the Black church.

  • 50 COMMENTIN ON THE STATE OF HIPHOP?

  • hip hop is more hard

  • Pam's face was Priceless after T.i. finished!!!

  • What .T.I. is saying is the poster cop out to justify the Evadsion of all our Moral Obligations to our People period. Kids are Naturally Rebellous towards their parents, and not all households have that deal with dad. So if we all do our part as a village. Someone will pick up the Baton, and say "i got this, Yo Shorty!! Listen up i know I'm not your Daddy, but i'm sure he won't mind.".

    Where's the Evolution?

  • T.I. is right, family is everything.

  • @DJUncleSkeeter ....forever

  • Immortal Technique, Dead Prez, most of 2pac

  • see thats my problem with some people when they think of hip hop. why does a rapper have to be violent to be real hip hop. thats why i dont get mad at rappers like kanye soulja boy lupe drake n them stanky leg niggas. their being original to themselves and not trying to be a hard gangsta person. y do u have to be gangsta to be a rapper?? be true to yourself.

  • Current state of Hip Hop: its alive and well, doing alot better actually, more dope underground emcees coming out doing their thing, dope producers laying it down, i dont know about them in this video but hip hop is doing alot fine, its in the underground if your looking for it
