@autoteck1 Vacuum tubes are not obsolete, they are still used (and NOS American tubes highly coveted) in guitar amplifiers and high-end stereo equipment.
-
A prime example of what raising taxes on industry and the rich does for Industry and Job creation
-
General Electric had light bulb plant there that made Vacume tubes and incandesant lightbulbs, Vacume tubes are obsolete and now the Government has outlawed incandesant lightbulbs, I think it is The Government that caused the final straw that closed this plant and Moved to CHina where they make the Compact floresent bulbs with CHEEEEEEPPP labor. Another example of jobs saved or created by Obama and the E.P.A.

New York City is just a shell of what it used to be, manufacturers of every kind left for foreign shores; N.Y.C. isn't very friendly either, they don't even let you smoke cigaretttes, seems like a bunch of rich upper-class snobs have taken control as if they built that city.
Blame it all on the union as China has cheap labor and American Union Workers will not take any pay cuts. What needs to be done is to out source the auto industry to China and abandoned the American Unions. It is all about making money for the company and union workers do not care about being productive enough like workers in China.

@patsaxon Yeah, because Jack Welch needs a kazillion dollars, ten homes, yachts, et cetera, G.E. and the others owe there very existence to this country, they sold out for greed.

they are trying to revitalize the nieghborhoods and bring some sort of light into that city after all it doesn't look too bad from what it used to look like 10 yrs ago where downtown was left abandoned with only a few stores on state street when the dnk store was closed down and people would flock downtown and ask for cigs or some change to survive on i didnt mind helping people out in that aspect of life because back then its been basically hard to survive there too and being judged sucks

@MegaDarkangel420 Hope it's not too little too late, they spent millions on downtown entertainment, and let the roadways all through the city become full of pot holes and sunken manhole covers; all the neighborhoods are bruised with neglect, and these people in Schenectady County and the City pay the highest taxes in New York and the Country. There are four townships, and one village, and one city, all boasting their own halls of government, their own police and fire departments.

@pennyf9 Schenectady, N.Y. was once an industrial behemoth, it was connected to the Erie Canal, and was home of the General Electric and American Locomotive Corporation, together at there zenith, they employed close to 80,000 people. ALCO finally left and went Cannad in the 1950,s, and G.E. cut the workforce in the 1970's - 1980's to 5,000 workers. Schenectady is G.E.'s birthplace, set up by Thomas Edison, and instead of remembering that, G.E. sold out for cheap labor.
