Gold Panning Demo

I made this video August 27, 2008, the day we visited the Consolidated Gold Mine at Dahlonega, GA. Its amazing how fast the professional can separate the dirt from the gold. We have been tutored on panning several times, but this place had the best technique, and I feel like I finally can pan fairly well.

The guy doing the demo is an employee of the mine and is trying to instruct a complete dummy. This was the third place I had received gold panning instruction and I found their technique was good. You'll notice he didn't pan for twenty minutes and did find a little gold where he expected none.

I can not believe you actually posted this video, I thought you were kidding when you said you would. My ego is slightly boosted!!! I am so glad that you had a good time at Consolidated Gold Mines in Dahlonega, Georgia. In response to the other guys comment, you should always go slow when first learning, speed comes with practice and practice means more GOLD and we all need more gold!

20 minutes to pan that out? You should be able to do that in 1 minute tops. Shake, slough, done. The more material you move the gold you get. Sure panning for 20 minutes might get you 99% of the gold but in 1 minute you can get 70%. After 20 minutes of that you're going to have 14x the gold!
