@AC130EMPYREAL because an acceptable lift in powerlifting is that you break parallel (hip crease in line with the knee joint). A wider stance allows that to happen at a shorter distance compared to high-bar olympic style squatting

@AC130EMPYREAL It vastly reduces the range of motion that the lifter has to go through and hence less work is performed by the muscles

@lilaxboy11 I did it with 400 in but the saftey bars on the squat rack caught the weight. My neck felt like a peach the the next morning though.
Why not use a weight you can actually do?

Surprisingly it didn't hurt at all it just left a big battle scar. No thanks to the spotters.
