The coalition probably would have won the last election if he had accepted the leadership after Howard's defeat, and we would have been spared the iniquitous Gillard/Brown regime and it's diabolical carbon tax.

Exactly right. I was looking at where the "emission reductions" were coming from. Answer is quite surprising. There are no significant reductions (not that 5% target is significant anyway), a massive majority of the ALP/Green models stated amount is coming from buying permits. FFS ! Thank God the majority of the electorate are smart enough to be against this scramble for political refuge.

The idea of the carbon tax is to replace soon to be redundant industries with the new age renewables. Changing the flow of capital into these industries to stay ahead of the pack makes economic and logical sense.

I don't believe anything Bolt says without checking. This is the clown who declared the world was cooling. If he had bothered to check his sources he would have found they only included 1998 to 2006 and conveniently forgot before and after. Whalla!!, add the missing data and the graph is startling. The Heartland Institute was recently found paying scientists to throw doubt on clilmate change. Has Bolt reported this? NO. He will throw dirt at scientist but he hides his deceit. He is a coward.

Are you talking about Costello. He did not face a GFC. He lost millions on money speculation! His government spent more than Labor has now. That is true!!! Anybody government faced with the GFC would be in debt. Any Government!! We have an opposition 70 Billion dollars in the red. A Wombat could have run the economy when Costello was treasurer.
