@Rikardo8a The ship was going down and going down quick. If the transmission that THEFINALHAZARD listened to is true, the speed could be simply attributed to stress or concern that if the message took too long, than it would have to be cut short, which would leave out vital information.

I do belive that has become the steriotypical Moress code distress signal, as it is used in cartoons and game when ever a ship sinks.

Nice video! If memory serves me well it was recommended not to send faster then abt 18 wpm in case of emergency, but that must have been really difficult in case of a real ...---... Reason: never send faster than the receiver can take (in an emergency situation you never know how many chances you'll have to repeat your QTH) 73 OM, ex-pa3ehm ...-.-

@Rikardo8a Indeed, however someone had commented in a video that the speed the SOS was sent at could have not ever been done with a straight key. I had to prove em wrong. XD
