Masked men in Iraq set a 5-year old boy on fire, and his mother is desperate to see him smile again.

لم أكن أتوقع هذا الكم من السخاء الهائل الذي نتج عن قصة «يوسف». ولمن لا يعرفها، فإن حكاية «يوسف» تعد مثالا لـ«الشر الخالص» الذي انطلق هنا. يوسف كان طفلا بريئا يلعب امام منزله، لكن الأمر انتهى به داخل «مغطس» من البنزين وبرجال ملثمين يضرمون النار فيه، وقد علمنا بقصته بعد أن جاء والده اليائس طالبا مساعدتنا. كنت قلقة للغاية من ان القصة قد لا تحصل على الاهتمام الذي يستحقه يوسف، كنت أسأل نفسي اذا ما أعطينا القصة حقها، لأنني كنت قلقة في نفس الوقت على أسرة يوسف الذين قد يتعرضوا لمخاطر جمة نتيجة تحدثهم الينا.
أذكر أني بدأت بقراءة التعليقات التي بدأت تأتي الى موقع cnn.com الالكتروني من أناس ارادوا مساعدة، ثم جاء دور البريد الالكتروني والمكالمات الهاتفية وبدا انها تضخمت بسرعة كبيرة لدرجة اننا ـ في سي ان ان ـ كنا بالكاد نجاريه. وأنا أكتب هذه السطور، لا أملك سوى الابتسام كلما تذكرت الشعور الذي انتابني عندما علمت أن باستطاعتي الاتصال بوالد يوسف كي اقول له «طفلك ذاهب الى من سيساعده». يوما بعد يوم نحاول تلخيص شدة التعقيد، ومأساة العراق بشكل أكبر في أخبارنا، إلا أن تغطية العراق عملية تزداد صعوبة، وفي بعض الأحيان تكون مؤلمة ومحبطة. وهذا ليس فقط بسبب غياب الاحساس عالميا بما يجري في العراق، ولكن بسبب المخاوف الأمنية التي تحد من عملنا.

Every family should have a cyborg guard of pure hatred towards child attacking lowlives. Then if they poured the gasoline the robot of death would be activated... lazers would pewm out of its eyes, first cutting their hands off... then blinding them so hard that the lasers bust out the back of their sick minds.
