A video from my shack in Cappahayden, Newfoundland. I tried to cross the Atlantic Ocean on VHF frequencies the first time. The frequency I used during the two weeks was 144.188,0 MHz. You see a few windows from the program WSJT on my notebookscreen. On the right side there was the ICOM Transceiver and the power amplifier from BEKO delivering more than 700 Watts output. A coax cable ECOFLEX 10, 42 m long runs over a medow to the preaamplifier from SSB-Electronics near the longyagi antenna close to the coastline. Another 8m coax was used from the preaamp to the yagi.

The Beko PA is very solid and you can use JT65 without a problem. Try EME with 400 W and your antenna at moonrise. The groundgain will give you up to +6dB! In Cappahayden/VO1 I made a few EME QSO´s with my Tropo-setup at local moonrise. I heard the Europeans in my Headset with the moon UNDER the horizon. Ok, my QTH had very low noise and the Atlantic was a few meters away...

  • I have been using a Beko 400 for 2 weeks. The build quality and performance are both excellant.I have also just started to experiment with EME and ms on 2 meters.

It is a new challenge.I need MORE antenna`s.My neighbours don`t!!!!

    Good DX om de g6phh
