True, their version is full of passion. As for the song itself, cos of Bregović it's sometimes said to be Serbian. It's of Gypsy origins, that's for sure.

Goran Bregovic's version still much better of course, but Beirut's performance is very soulful as always. Bravo

the instrumental part is good, no lie- but it's when they open their mouths they completely ruin the song... they look like they're drunkenly singing it. :L

Yes but Bregovic is not the author of the song,I remember my great grandmother singing it...I didn't know that was part of Beirut repertoire when I clicked the link and started to hear the brass inmediatly started to cry...It's a amazing version cause even is lacking all the orchestra and choir from Bregovic's version it is very touching
