The following are not valid arguments for theism:

What if there really is a god, and you risk going to hell if you don't believe? Isn't it better to just believe, just in case?
Atheism kills.
Atheism leads to immoral behaviour.
If there is no god, why can't we just do as we please?
People need to believe in something.
Life is meaningless without a belief in god.
You can't explain how the universe began, so God must have done it.
You can't explain how life began, so God must have done it.
Or to be more generalistic: You can't explain X, so God must have done it.
Person X believed in God.
Darwin repented on his deathbed.

I actually left one out: You can't prove that God doesn't exist. Of course I can't, because you have defined him/her/it to make that impossible.

I switched these arguments around halfway through the editing process, to make the order more logical, but unfortunately this means I refer to something that comes later in my argument on "Atheism kills."

Hope you'll enjoy this vid anyway.
And theists, please refrain from using these arguments EVER again.

  • Do it again without the silly voices.

It is a reduction to ridicule fallacy to use this method to try to 'prove' a point.

  • @Washu1973 The argument stands on its own, and remains valid, whether I add ridicule or not. In any case, the silly voices are mainly to ensure that no-one can quote me out of context as expressing those invalid arguments as if I believed them.

  • creationism, intelligent design motto "if it cannot pass as science, pass it as a law". Steam Cell research stopped around 10 years because of christians. just pure advacment.

Catholic church intervention in Africa, aggresive campaign against the use of condom, bigotry against gays and lesbians, the Pat Robertsons and mullahs, preaching poverty while living in a palace (evangelical, LDS, Catholic, Anglical), palestianian conflict, nicely fueled by religion, more moral advancement.

  • also you are sadly mistaken, want to hear real advancment for humans and culture?

Development of bigger and sophisticated brain, changes in teeth, fire, tools, agriculture, animal domestication, language, mathematics, science in the pinacle at this moment.

without science you still will be in the mud with your medieval monks, and guess what, my nickname in youtube is because one of the founders of early science, one that rejected the gods and seeked the natural explanation.

  • @CapnOrdinary

Then say something like "theists believe that ..."

This would enable you to make it clear that the opinion that follows it is not yours without the need for silly voices.

  • @Washu1973

Why can't he ridicule ridiculous arguments? Its not his fault that those arguments are unsound and insipid

  • @iseezapie Having a religion forced down His throat, Some were, most weren't. Things that had happened then and now are pretty similar as far as environment, even in the book as Genesis most people chose not to follow God, even though they could see Him, He only had two good followers, Moses and Noah. Everyone else followed Idols and thier sexual desires. Even now people are bringing back the enlightenment of the 18th century, thats what's being shoved down our throats for centuries.

  • @iseezapie That's OK, You're right that it doesn't matter if He repented on his deathbed, (I hope he did). What changes the validity of his work is the he even said that if missing links aren't found to disregard his work, He said he never knew how we got here but here's how we came about? I don't listen to assumptions. They put intellect aside??? I don't see any scientist on the cover of the paper or magazine for discovering the mysteries of the universe. Part 1

  • @iseezapie actually we do know. science now knows that everything is created in our brain. a tree is not a tree, its billions of vibrating particles that send out a frequency. your brain creates the tree in your mind. think of were a dream takes place its in your head right? so is everything else. our brain is not creating consciousness because in the end the matter that your made out is 99% open space and the rest energy

  • @bodom71 Sorry for the lateness of this response. It doesn't matter if darwin repented on his deathbed or not, it doesn't change the validity of his work and it doesn't prove any divine being. All it would attest to is that he spent his life having a religion forced down his throat that works to instill such utter dread into people that they will put intellect aside, and deigns to call it love

  • @TheTheKRIT If you are refering to universe as a whole, we don't know, its meaningless to speculate on the origins of the universe because at the current time we can't even comprehend an existence that would be outside the context of our universe (time, space, etc etc). If you are refering to life, then abiogenesis is the answer you are looking for

  • The fact is something was created from nothing. Please explain how that happens. Explain how an idea arrises from nothing. An idea that know one ahs thought of is something created from nothing.

  • @bodom71 Also, no. It's not hypocrisy. I'm not sure if he did, and if it's a lie, I'm not sure of what evidence there is to support that claim. But the REAL point is that even if he had repented on his deathbed, acknowledging God exists doesn't mean a) he does and b) if he does exist, that he created everything and evolution is false.

  • @bodom71 Lmfao. No. He's not calling Christian's idiots. He's simply stating the many of the common arguments Christian's use to debate atheists are either invalid, or logical fallacies. Whether or not a god exists, bares is still up to debate whether you like it or not. Also, don't turn a blind eye, Christian's shove their beliefs down other people's throats. Atheist's simply challenge them. While we both should just co-exist, atheists aren't the only one's guilty.
