Metro 2033 Alternate Ending - Enlightened

This is the alternate ending of Metro 2033 where Artyom spares the dark ones, and allows them to live.
This achievement is hard to unlock and can be done so by doing the following:
-In the vision after Black Station, walk towards the blue light (dark one)
-In the vision on the train going to D6 walk towards the blue soldier THEN the red dark one.

As interesting as this game was, it's so vague about what you have control or a choice over. It's sort of insincere to have such a hidden and altogether useless moral system in a game such as this. Anyway, bad ending is canon, so it doesn't much matter.

@Slyraider100 I think it's that the "dark ones" were the main threat to human survival. The normal mutants could be handled to an extent, but the dark ones, as you hear in the beginning of the game, are the "next stage in human evolution". rather than being mere mutants, they still held onto their intelligence and etc, and thus it would be possible for the dark ones and the humans to ally... or at least come to a ceasefire.

@Saradamon i have to say i disagree with you the dark ones arent evil but want to live in harmony with humans if u notice they never actually killed senselessly they only fought in self defense not to mention the fact that throughout the whole game they want to understand u and u to understand them they even saved you once. and just because they are the next step in evolution does not mean that humans and dark ones can not be allies or friends. Its not like we killed apes when we evolved

Does this need to be done on a specific difficulty? I did all the requirements and it didn't give me the ending, but I played it on easy to go through it really quickly.

I've got both endings. They ARE offering peace... but just look at them! How are you gonna make clear that humans die when they try to communicate? Do you know if they're gonna turn their backs on you? Perhaps these were all just lies? :I.

@Mst3kfanatic1 they weren't really being hostile think about it ... your firing a missile at them to wipe all of them out to save your entire race... they are trying to kill you... one person to save there entire race... if u ask me they are dealing with it better

I got this ending first time and was unaware, for a short time at least, that there was another ending. Wierd

when you walk toward the red one are you supposed to touch the red one or walk toward the red one and turn around
